Taking the first steps...
Feeling stuck with body image? Here are a few ways to start feeling better—gently and honestly.
Step 1
Speak to yourself like you would someone you love.
If you wouldn’t say it to your best friend, don’t say it to yourself. Swap out the self-criticism for compassion.
Step 2
Question what you see online.
Most of what we scroll past isn’t real. Filters, edits, and angles create illusions—not truth. You are already enough without needing to fit into that fake perfect box.
Step 3
Pay attention to your feed—and your feelings.
If a post or person makes you feel less than, it’s okay to unfollow. Fill your feed with people who inspire you, not pressure you.
Step 4
Celebrate what makes you, you.
Make a list—not of how you look, but of what you love about your mind, your spirit, your humor, your talents. The stuff that really matters.
Step 5
Stay close to the people who light you up.
The ones who cheer you on, get your jokes, and remind you of your worth. Let their voices drown out the doubt.
Step 6
Keep your own advice.
If a friend came to you feeling the way you do, what would you say? That advice is good enough for you, too.
Step 7
Say it out loud.
Talking helps. Whether it’s a parent, a mentor, or a friend—let someone in. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to carry it by yourself.
